Catholics claim that the Catholic Church is the one true church started by Jesus Christ, nothing could be further from the truth. The Catholic Church has nothing in common with the new testament church laid out in scripture.
The Biblical church believes in the sufficiency of Christ. The Bible is clear that Jesus Christ is the only mediator, intercessor, and head of the Church:
Colossians 2:6-10 - "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power."
Ephesians 2:13-20 - "But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. 18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone."
Romans 8:26-27 - "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."
1 Timothy 2:5-6 - "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time."
The apostate Catholic church denies the sufficiency of Christ. The Catholic church has added other mediators and intercessors between God and man (Mary & the "Saints"), rejecting Christ as the sole mediator. The apostate Catholic church rejects Christ as the sole head of the church, the Popes have usurped Christ's authority over new testament Christianity, thus exalting themselves above Christ.
The Biblical church believes in the sufficiency of the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit leads the saved Christian into all truth. Saved Christians don't need to rely on men to know what the Bible teaches and to know truth from error:
John 16:13 - "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come."
John 14:26 - "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."
1 Corinthians 2:10-14 - "But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
Ephesians 1:17 - "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him."
1 John 2:20 - "But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things."
1 John 2:27 - "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."
The apostate Catholic church denies the sufficiency of the Holy Spirit. The Catholic Church denies that the Holy Spirit will lead and guide Christians to understand the scriptures, and they say that Christians can't understand the word of God on their own without the priest.
The Biblical church believes in the sufficiency of grace. Nobody is saved without God's grace. Grace is a free gift (Rom. 3:24, Rom. 5:15-18). Grace is not received by works of righteousness, but by faith:
Ephesians 2:4-9 - "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Romans 11:6 - "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work."
2 Timothy 1:8-9 - "Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began."
The apostate Catholic church denies the sufficiency of grace. The Catholic church denies that grace is a free gift from God. The Catholic church believes that grace was given to the church to control through the man-made sacraments and that in order to receive grace, continual good works are required.
There are many other ways that the Catholic Church denies and contradicts plain and clear scripture. The Catholic Church has set aside the word of God for the traditions of men!
